Topic: 1 Million Food Gardens Across Africa - Communities, Cooperatives & Schools
- Agro-Ecological Farming and Business in Community Spaces and Schools
Bio: Tim Abaa teaches children to start growing their own food and become Farmers of the future! Tim trains communities to establish food farms for self reliant, self sustaining community food production and economic viability. He has established over 600 Food Farms across Africa and has started a Food Farm Movement. Tim is a farming consultant, trainer and successful small scale farmer and is the co-founder of the Ubuntu Project, an initiative that has provided parcels of organic vegetables to hundreds of vulnerable households in the townships since the beginning of lockdown, as well as gardening starter kits and seedlings so they can grow their own vegetables.
Intro: The challenges linked to the food system are increasingly urgent and complex. Tim has identified new ways of bringing people together, simpler and more streamlined. This new organizational model is open, inclusive and rooted in local areas but with internationally shared objectives such as combatting waste, overcoming inequalities, protecting biodiversity and anticipating climate change, to name just a few.

Presentation Topic: Establishing Food Hubs Across Africa
Intro: A food hub is the connection between the farmer and the consumer. It is a business that aggregates, distributes and markets local food, and is increasingly providing opportunities for many farmers to bring their produce to market. Food hubs give farmers access to markets they wouldn’t otherwise reach. This helps farmers sell product for a fair price and sell more product.
Bio: Justin started his career in the banking industry, working around the world for some of the largest financial institutions. In 2015 he started Ichthys Aquaponics in Midrand, South Africa. The vision was to develop aquaponics, create a support base for farmers and make it relevant for Africa. Ichthys Aquaponics is now one of the largest commercial aquaponics farms in Africa, taking up the best part of 2 acres of land and producing fresh produce for most of the major retailers in Johannesburg under the new brand “Ichthys Fresh”.
In addition Ichthys has assisted in the construction of highly successful aquaponics farms all over Africa. Justin is fully committed to seeing that farmers are able to survive the challenges of economic viability and sustainability and that farmers get a fair price for their produce.

Bio: Mr. Poultney established the Environment Sustainability Agency (ESA), to build models for the
empowerment of economic development using biodiversity as the core, while creating equity and
shareholding in the wildlife industry for disadvantaged communities. For the past 27 years, his work has included: project development and management at an international level; community-based development for poverty reduction; fundraising (over 250 million rand to-date); performance-based management design and implementation; education sector analysis, reform and management; vocational training including qualifications analysis and development; curriculum design; and human resource development.
Nick Snaith – EcoFarms
Biological Farming Agronomist
Bio: Working as a focused agricultural service and product provider, Mr. Snaith has helped South African farmers achieve sustainability through technology and the correct inputs to maximize quality, yield, and profitability. Having grown up ON and farmed the family farm, he then studied agronomy, crop and livestock husbandry, financial modelling and marketing at the Shuttleworth Agricultural College in the UK and received his MSc in Plant Pathology from the University of KwaZulu Natal. Nick developed a consolidated, modular food production unit capable of feeding any desired amount of people/site/day ensuring a balanced diet of milk, eggs, poultry meat, beef, lamb, pork and vegetables, irrespective of weather conditions. He also is the inventor of Farming Intelligence 7 days/week (Fi7), security and management systems for both livestock and assets utilizing “active tagging” to monitor their temperature, movement, and location.

Bio: Cary is the President of Global Pioneers NGO and the President of the International Educators
Association. Mr. Goulston was baptized in Ghana as Nii Ayetey. He has 40 Years of working experience as an International Educator and Humanitarian. Cary is a Recognized Peace Ambassador by the United Nations and Change Ambassador Network and is a 3 Time recipient of the prestigious United States Presidential Volunteer Services Award (the highest award in the United States for volunteerism).
He is partnering with royalty, governments, officials, community leaders, educators and NGO leaders throughout the globe. He has recently signed Memorandums of Understanding with Pakistan and Nepal governments to train over 4 million students on Study and Youth Betterment training with the How to Make Good Choices program.
He has lead a Diplomatic Mission as a Conflict Resolution Peace Ambassador to Sudan to help end the war. The war ended within 3 months of his mission. He has helped train hundreds of thousands of people on community improvement programs, human rights, drug education, literacy and common sense principles and is currently running social betterment groups and activities in Kenya, Uganda, Ghana, Nigeria and South Africa. He has distributed educational books to and trained over 2 million people. He has lead Peace & Educational Missions to Sudan, Nigeria, Sri Lanka, Uganda, Brazil, Hong Kong, Turkey, Tanzania, Congo, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Bangladesh and Jamaica.
